Swamps are not what they seem, which is true of most of us.  People tend to avoid them, viewing them as mucky, smelly, mosquito laden, and dangerous places. Yet they are teeming with life at the same time they are also about death.  They hold both realities, and that is what makes them beautiful to me. 

Swamps are a wonderful mystery, a true dichotomy, a metaphor, and I paint them with love and respect.
