I am honored to be the inaugural exhibitor at the new Ardsley Village Hall gallery.
Visions of Nature showcases my landscape paintings. Many of you know me as the Chair of the Ardsley Pollinator Pathway and you probably didn’t know that I am also an artist. Both endeavors are closely tied. Through the Ardsley Pollinator Pathway, I strive to protect the land and ecosystem that I love and through painting I express that love and passion for the land and ecosystem.
This exhibit provides the opportunity to explore my approach to landscape painting over twelve years. The exploration involves numerous mediums, subjects, and styles. Most recently I have been working with watercolor on Yupo, which is a nonabsorbent surface. In this technique chance leads the process and the artist must decide what works, and be left alone, and what needs to be manipulated and fixed. Though frustrating at times, it allows me to abstract and freely capture the impression of the landscape in a very different way.
